Hasta La’ Pasta!

I am probably one of the biggest pasta fans around. I love all of it, fettuccine alfredo, pesto penne, shrimp scampi on angel hair, my mouth is watering right now as I write this! This is hard for me, because being pasta advocate isn’t exactly good considering the fact that I am also a fairly big fitness advocate. I hate the fact that I have to limit the amount of pasta I can shovel into my face per week. I mean if I could I would literally eat this stuff everyday, several times a day. Unfortunately I also really want a summer bod. Pasta and fitness do not coincide on many levels, especially if you are trying to get lean! The struggle is real here people. With all of that in mind, I make sure that I choose wisely where I am going to indulge for a cheat pasta meal.

For those of you who are on my level with a passion for pasta and fitness, I have a just the restaurant for you! Twisted Noodle is this super rad cafe located on Main Street next to the parking garage. I love this place so much for several reasons. The restaurant menu was created to please anyone with any diet! It is a healthy alternative for dining out and indulging in “the good stuff”. When I first heard of this place my heart skipped a beat and when I took my first lunch trip there, my mind was blown. If you are like me, you know the struggle of finding healthy food that tastes better than cardboard.

Now back to pasta, Twisted noodle offers pasta… Wait for it… Ba dum pst! That is healthy! And I am not saying healthy as in just wheat noodles. I mean healthy like they have pasta that fits into a paleo diet! I can’t even begin to explain the amount of joy this brings pasta loving fitness fans. I nearly cried when I realized I can eat there more than once a week and not gain all the weight back that I work so hard to keep off!

Not only is this place healthy and delicious, but they are affordable as well! Which is awesome because we all know how expensive being healthy can be!

Places like Twisted Noodle are what dreams are made of. With meal plan offers, vegan dishes, paleo diet friendly and being able to make healthy pasta lovers happy, I definitely rate this place a 10. Now go get yourself over there and get some good healthy wholesome eats!

Let’s Taco ’bout it!

I don’t know about you guys, but I have become quite the fan of tacos recently. Honestly, I am a fan of all things taco these days. From taco salad to fish tacos, hard tacos, soft tacos, street tacos and my ABSOLUTE personal Fav these days, SUSHI TACOS! I’ll get into more detail about these little secret treasures further along in this post. So, I have compiled a list of my 3 favorite local places to get a variety of these delicious little meals.

  • El Coyote Charro, 969 N 3050 E Ste B-4, St George, Utah 84790

This is my top pick for authentic Street Tacos in Saint George. Coming from Southern California, It seems as though nothing really quite hit the spot when it came to these until I landed here. Famous for their Taco Wednesday where pork tacos just so happen to be half off. It’s your traditional plate, wrapped in tin foil, corn tortilla topped with your choice of meat, cilantro and onions. Afterwards you make your way over to the salsa bar where you’ll find a variety of degrees of temperature, including the delicious guacamole salsa, onions, more cilantro, limes, spicy carrots and pinto beans, all which is for no extra cost.

  1. Oscar’s Cafe,  948 Zion – Mount Carmel Hwy, Springdale, UT 84767

Oscars has some of the most delicious food hands down in my book, and a pretty reasonably priced menu at that. This is the home of some extremely tasty and delectable Shrimp Tacos. 3 corn tortillas with melted mozzarella, guacamole, piled with grilled shrimp, salsa and a creamy lime sauce drizzled to top it off.  You can dine indoor or outdoor and catch some amazing views of the peaks of Zion National Park.

  1. Ninja Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi, 245 Red Cliffs Dr, St George, UT 84790

NINJA TACOS! They are a real thing and they are the best thing since sliced bread. Chopped tuna, salmon, yellowtail and red snapper, mixed together with avocado, lime, cilantro and sureno and showered in Hashi sauce. Pile that concoction on top of a little tortilla with sticky rice, toss your chopsticks to the side and you’ve got yourself 4 little gifts for your tastebuds. Sceptical? Believe me, these are an item you will go back for. They aren’t technically on the menu, but go ahead and ask and they’ll be glad to whip them up for you.

25 Main

This family owned and operated spunky and chic little café, with a fabulous location in historic downtown St. George, is the perfect brunch or any other meal spot!

When it comes to supporting local artists, Twenty Five Main has it figured out. Almost every Friday they have live music for local musicians to come and perform for the restaurants guests. They also display artwork from local artists in the café!

They even have cupcakes of the day! That’s right… Cupcakes. Not only is Twenty Five Main loved for their excellent gourmet food, they have a cupcake parlor as well! With some of the BEST cupcakes in town. The flavors range from peanut butter chocolate, blackberry vanilla and raspberry vanilla (best cupcake in my opinion!).

Twenty Five Main is definitely a very popular cafe to go to for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have some of the most delicious meals made from scratch like their mouthwatering fettuccine alfredo (my absolute favorite!) and their adored Paninis! They offer an array of tasty eats, ranging from pasta, to deli sandwiches and much more! Do not even get me started on their French toast! Their breakfast menu is by far my favorite in town. Weekends bring breakfast dates with my friends and more often than not we end up at Twenty Five Main. The café also offers an array of delicious coffee and espresso drinks as well as other tasty beverages like Italian sodas!

This is a fun and stylish restaurant for the entire family to enjoy.

Sprindgale Utah Information

Springdale is a very small town, located in the southwestern area of Utah. Springdale is known as “The Gateway to Zion National Park.” This is because the town is located right outside of this popular national park. Springdale is a fantastic tourist area for those who want the small town feel during their vacation. There are so many things that make Springdale special. By learning a little bit about the area before you arrive, you will feel more connected to your destination and be able to make the most of your stay.

About Springdale
Springdale is an extremely small US town. The 2010 census revealed that there were only about 530 people living within the city limits. The majority of the town’s wealth is made through tourism, since many people stay in, or pass through, Springdale when visiting the surrounding state parks.

The town itself is quite small, as well. Springdale encompasses a total of 4.6 miles of land. This means that you could easily walk the entirety of the town and see all it has to offer. Though the total mileage of Springdale is quite small, there is so much to see and do within the area and on the outskirts. This town is so wonderful, in fact, Forbes Traveler Magazine named it one of the United States 20 prettiest towns.
The area of Springdale has many different natural wonders to offer. Springdale is located at an elevation of 3,900 feet, which means you are not at a terribly high elevation, but the increased elevation can be difficult for some to get used to. The rocky terrain and beautiful formations make for scenic views that cannot be competed with. Springdale offers all the wonder of the wild west in a small-town setting.History of Springdale
The history of Springdale makes for a very interesting story. Indigenous people used the area between the years of 500 A.D. and 1200 A.D, approximately. Eventually, European and Spanish explorers made their way to the Springdale area, most likely while on their way to California. Springdale was officially settled in 1862 by Mormon pioneers, but it took quite a while for it to become a budding tourist town.

By 1917, there were well-established roads to the area, which allowed for tourism. Between the Wiley Way Camp, the first tourist business, and the dedication of Mukuntuweap National Monument, which is Zion National Park today, there was plenty to see and do in the Springdale area. Soon after, development started to take off and led to electricity, gasoline, stores, and other tourism-centered businesses.
Once the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway and Tunnel was completed in 1930, there was nothing stopping the small town of Springdale from becoming an important tourism hub. Advancements continued steadily, eventually resulting in the beautiful town of Springdale of today. The story of Springdale, and its success as a small town, is a true American west story. By understanding the amazing history of this town, you will be able to better appreciate its beauty when you visit.Things to do
The number of things to do and see in, and around, Springdale is incredible. With it being such a small town, you may assume that it is lacking in the attraction and amenity department. This couldn’t be further from the truth. You will be overwhelmed by the lovely hotels, unique businesses, and amazing scenery. While there are lots of great things to do in the area, the following is a list of must-sees during your visit. Whether you are here for weeks or just passing through, you’ll want to make sure you give Springdale a chance to wow you.

Local shops and galleries
As you meander along the area of downtown Springdale, you will come to realize that there are many specialty and gift shops waiting to be explored. These stores are a great opportunity to get souvenirs for those at home, or maybe a little something for yourself. Many of the items you will find are truly one of a kind. The shops carry things that are handmade, like jewelry, relate to the local history, like native instruments, and even geologic treasures, like crystals. You will walk away with something you could never buy anywhere else in the world.

Outdoor adventures
It’s no secret that what really brings people to the Springdale area is its beautiful neighbor, Zion National Park. The park offers so many opportunities to do and see things that you may have never experienced. Since Springdale connects to Zion, it makes it the perfect place to be if you are interested in outdoor activities. The available adventures are nearly endless, but some of the most popular are hiking, rock climbing, rappelling, and horseback riding. If you have come to Springdale with the intention of getting out into the wide-open spaces of Utah, you will be able to do just that in nearby Zion National Park.

Tours and guides
Sometimes, exploring a new area can be quite daunting. You may not be sure where the best place to hike is, or you may want advice on the most scenic views. These conundrums are where tour and guide companies are useful. Springdale is home to a variety of companies who will be happy to share their knowledge and experience with you. Since they are extremely familiar with Zion National Park, they are the best people to enlist when you want to get the most out of your journey. By consulting a touring company, you are ensuring that you will not miss a single important part of the park. For those looking to really experience and appreciate Zion, you will find the tours and guides to be invaluable assets.

Local weather
Springdale is in an area of the United States that experiences all four seasons. There is something special about every season, so understanding the basics of the weather before you visit is a great idea.

Winter
Winters in Springdale can get quite cold. However, if you can stand the frigid temperatures, the beautiful, majestic scenery provided by a blanket of snow are well worth the chill. Generally, temperatures will stay above the freezing point during the day. However, nights can get quite cold in the area, so if you are planning a winter visit, be sure to pack some extra layers.

Spring
Spring is a gorgeous time of year in Springdale. Springtime is full of new life and brings in the promise of another beautiful year. If you would like to see the gorgeous flora and fauna, wildlife, and unique terrain of the area, spring is the perfect time of the year to visit Springdale.

Summer
The heat of summer is a great time to get out and explore. Later in the summer, rain is much less likely, so your outdoor plans are less likely to be interrupted by rainfall. You will be surrounded by like-minded adventurers when you stay in Springdale during the summer.

Fall
The most temperate, comfortable time of the year in Springdale is the fall. Many people enjoy visiting during this time. The leaves begin to change on some of the trees, which makes the scenic views even more beautiful. The fall is usually dry, as well, which makes it the perfect time to enjoy outdoor activities. No matter when you decide to visit Springdale, you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful Springdale
There are so many things that make Springdale a wonderful area to explore. From it’s deep, rich history to the accessibility to Zion National Park, there is much to love. If you are looking for your next vacation spot, you should certainly consider making Springdale your destination of choice. If you are planning to explore Utah and its many parks, be sure to put Springdale and Zion on your list. You will be hard pressed to find another small town that makes such a big impact.
